The Spooner Area School District Board accepted several staff resignations and approved a slate of hires during its regular meeting.
Dr. Banker presented personnel recommendations, saying, “We have a few resignations,” and then read resignations including Emily Hackman (food service), Steve Daniels (wrestling and football coach), Missy Patchen (special education teacher) and Danielle Jung (paraprofessional). Board member (speaker 6) moved to accept the resignations; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote. The board thanked departing staff for their service.
Separately the board approved hiring recommendations. The list included Alyssa Bambenek as long-term high school secretary substitute, Chase Melton as middle-school wrestling coach, Tony Krause as buildings-and-grounds custodian, Bill Allard as maintenance and grounds manager, Ashley Allbach in elementary food service, Greg Posowitz as high school principal, Jacqueline Vosberg as high-school agriculture teacher, Claire Johnson as head high-school volleyball coach, and Hannah Kastner as school psychologist. A board member noted that Kastner and Osberg are Spooner graduates; the board congratulated the new hires and approved the motion by voice vote.
Several items related to personnel were later discussed in closed session under the cited Wisconsin statute; the board reconvened in open session and recorded that motions to approve a retirement request and to terminate an employee were made during closed session as presented.
