The Midway City Planning Commission voted to recommend an amendment to the conditional‑use permit for Hidden Peak Provisions (93 West Main St.) to add wine and hard cider to the existing beer authorization.
Staff noted the restaurant originally received a CUP and state approval in December 2022 for a limited restaurant alcohol license; to change its offerings the business must return through the city's process and update state licensing. Michael explained state requirements for a restaurant alcohol license, adding that no more than 30% of restaurant sales can come from alcohol and that the business must ensure 70% of sales are other items, including food.
The applicant described service plans and sign compliance. On service format the applicant said, "I'm gonna serve it by the glass," and said the business will not sell takeout alcohol; staff reiterated city conditions that alcohol‑related signage must not be visible from Main Street and existing noncompliant signs must be removed.
A commissioner moved to amend the CUP to allow wine and hard cider in addition to beer; the commission approved the motion by unanimous voice vote. The item will proceed with the city's conditions and the applicant will follow up with the state for licensure adjustments.
The commission’s decision is a recommendation to city council, which will hold the public hearing required for final approval.
