Satine Elementary students share 'Unity Day' projects at Wausau committee meeting

Satine Elementary students and their principal presented the school's third annual Unity Day at the Wausau School District Committee of the Whole meeting on March 23, 2026.
"Friday, March 6, we hosted our third annual Unity Day," said Kyle Sackett, principal of Satine Elementary, noting 15 presentations that included community members, parents and high school students. "We're very proud of how it all came together."
Students described what they learned. "My favorite part of Unity Day was at the ski patrol presentation when they asked me to come up," said Kasia, a fourth grader at Satine. "We also got to try on their vest and got to see how they strap up people's shoulders." Margo, another fourth grader, said she enjoyed a therapy dog presentation, and Amaya recounted learning about tools used in neonatal intensive care.
Committee members praised the presentations and the students' preparation. The chair thanked the group for the presentation and noted the program helps the district showcase community partnerships.
The appearance closed without formal action; the committee then resumed its agenda.
