Summary
The Mason County auditor said new vote‑by‑mail return envelopes and additional ballot drop boxes are being implemented; the clerk reported progress digitizing records and improved jury services features that allow jurors to submit materials online.
The Mason County Auditor and the county clerk reported several administrative changes intended to improve elections, records access and jury processing.
Auditor said ballots were mailed for an April levy in the North Mesa School District and that a new vote‑by‑mail return envelope design is being finalized to meet Secretary of State standards. The Auditor also said the county installed a new ballot drop box at Matlock (Fire Station 12) and is finalizing a second drop‑box location near Shelton Outfitters.
The Auditor described work with the jail to improve voter registration and education for inmates who retain civil voting rights and said the office is finalizing a vendor for a frozen‑deeds service.
The clerk (Charles) described consolidating active case files into Vault 204, boxing older files for storage and moving toward digitization of records. He said the Odyssey case system now has a 48‑hour turnaround for record retrieval and that the office has upgraded jury services to allow potential jurors to complete questionnaires and upload supporting documents, reducing paperwork denials.
Both officials said staffing and training remain priorities; the Auditor noted ongoing work on the county’s 2025 annual report and appointments to the citizens’ salary commission. No votes were taken at the meeting.
