PERRYTON ISD board approves recommended hires for 2026–27 school year

The PERRYTON ISD Board of Trustees approved recommended hires for the 2026–27 school year, voting 7–0 to extend one‑year contracts to a slate of certified and non‑certified candidates.
A committee member (S3) presented the list of recommended appointments for certified, probationary one‑year contracts and non‑certified assignments. Certified recommendations included Crystal Ruiz for special education shared services (art field facilitator/diagnostic teacher), Courtney Kaufman as a speech‑language pathologist, Mary Spurlock as PHS teacher and head band director, and Monica Bedari as an assistant principal at PHS. Non‑certified recommendations included staffing for junior high and elementary roles.
"These are the people that I'm recommending that we hire in this meeting on a one year certified probationary contract," the committee member said as they read the slate. The chair called for a motion; the motion to approve the list passed unanimously.
The approved hires will be offered contracts for the next school year; HR will proceed with final paperwork and onboarding steps.
