The Jacksonville Beach CRA approved reappointing four current members of its Public Art Advisory Committee to four-year terms running April 2026 through April 2030.
Taylor, CRA staff, described the committee's recruitment and selection process, saying the application was intentionally open-ended to attract varied art expertise. She noted the four candidates "did confirm they would like to be reappointed" and praised their complementary backgrounds, including a former Fletcher High art teacher, a fabricator experienced with large sculptures, and other local art professionals.
Board members discussed whether to stagger terms and possibly expand the committee back to seven members to preserve institutional knowledge while creating openings for new applicants. Taylor said changing the number of seats or term-staggering would require a bylaws amendment.
During the same discussion period staff reviewed the FY25 annual report draft and reminded the board of filing requirements: the report must be filed with Duval County and posted on the city's website by March 31. Staff agreed to add a chart key and confirm whether two construction-related positions fell within the FY25 reporting period.
The board approved the reappointments by roll call and signaled support to consider bylaw changes at a future workshop.
