Summary
Staff told the Loveland City Council the preconstruction meeting for the Nisbett Park amphitheater was held and mobilization will begin next week; staff gave key dates (substantial completion Oct. 31; final completion Nov. 30) and discussed temporary construction fencing, demo timing and access. The council also discussed a high bid for Lehi Park pickleball resurfacing and plans to master-plan the Schotemeyer property for passive veterans memorial improvements.
Loveland staff told the Loveland City Council that contractors will mobilize next week for demolition at Nisbett Park as part of the amphitheater replacement project and that the schedule calls for "substantial completion [on] October 31, with final completion slated for November 30," staff said.
Staff said the project will begin with demolition and that the work area will be surrounded by construction fencing; playgrounds, the gazebo and many seating areas will remain accessible while the immediate amphitheater footprint is closed for the duration of construction. Staff confirmed interior restroom renovations and exterior improvements, including stone veneer to match the amphitheater facade, and that contractor mobilization follows a recent preconstruction meeting.
Council members discussed a separate CIP item at Lehi Park, where resurfacing quotes for pickleball courts arrived at about 2.5 times the amount budgeted. Staff said they will pursue alternative contractors and still aim to complete the work this year.
In new business, council members said the city is preparing to close on the Schotemeyer property, which will be acquired as perpetual green space. Members described plans to form a planning committee with the mayor and outside firms to develop a master plan tying the property to Veterans Memorial and downtown access; several members noted funding sources such as the Land and Water Conservation Fund and Clean Ohio grant funding that have supported similar open-space projects.
At the meeting the board also approved a motion to accept the prior meeting minutes "as written." The motion was moved and seconded and recorded as approved by voice vote. No other formal actions were taken on CIP items at this meeting.
Staff asked the board to expect more detailed agenda items in future meetings for specific project approvals and noted they will compile park-evaluation items into a spreadsheet for tracking and prioritization.
