CPMT holds closed session on foster care maintenance payment; audits five of six selected cases

On March 10, 2025 the Tazewell County CPMT entered a closed session to discuss Foster Care Case No. 1086028, certified the closed meeting under Virginia FOIA, and reviewed five of six selected cases from March 1, 2024–Feb. 28, 2025, leaving one case for follow-up on March 24.
During the March 10 meeting the CPMT voted to enter a closed session to consider a maintenance payment for Foster Care Case No. 1086028. Roberta Boyd moved to convene the closed session; Robin Jackson seconded and the motion carried. After the closed session Jeff Brintle moved to return to open session; the motion was seconded by Shanna Plaster and carried.
The CPMT then adopted a certification resolution stating that, to the best of each member's knowledge, only matters lawfully exempted under the Virginia Freedom of Information Act were discussed (the minutes cite Code of Virginia sections 2.2-3711 and 2.2-3712). The certification vote was recorded as 11 ayes, 0 nays, 0 absent; the Parent Representative seat remained vacant.
Members reviewed Section V of the Compliance Assessment Worksheet (pages 29—637) and audited six selected cases covering March 1, 2024 through Feb. 28, 2025. The listed cases and responsible agencies were: Case No. 10666295 (TC DSS, foster care, mandated residential); Case No. 1020550454 (TC School, mandated non-residential private day school); Case No. 87969 (TC CMCSB, non-mandated non-residential); Case No. 11050033 (TC DSS CPS, mandated non-residential); Case No. 115444553 (TC DSS in-home, mandated residential parental agreement); and Case No. 82636 (TC CMCSB, non-mandated non-residential UR). Members completed reviews for five of the six cases and will finish the remaining case at the March 24 meeting.
The minutes record no vote or public details from the closed session beyond the certification; the CPMT set March 24, 2025 as the next meeting to conclude outstanding audit work.
