At its March 24 meeting the Tazewell County Community Policy and Management Team approved routine items on its consent slate and carried forward audit work on the county’s CSA program.
Robin Jackson moved to approve the February 24, 2025 CPMT minutes; Jeff Brintle seconded and the motion passed unanimously. Members also approved the February FY2025 Financial Report and the Safe & Stable Funds report (moved and seconded as recorded in the minutes), and Shelby Mitchell moved to approve March 10 audit meeting minutes, which passed unanimously.
The committee entered a closed session to discuss specified foster care, CPS, Cumberland, Court Services and school-related cases and associated funding. After reconvening to open session, members certified compliance with the Virginia Freedom of Information Act under Va. Code §§2.2-3711 and 2.2-3712. The minutes record a 10–0 recorded vote with the Parent Representative seat vacant during the meeting and vote.
David Taylor moved, and Jeff Brintle seconded, approval of funding to be provided for Foster Care, CPS, Cumberland, Court Services and Tazewell County Schools for services related to those cases; the committee unanimously carried that motion.
Under unfinished business, CPMT continued work on the CSA Self-Assessment Workbook, reviewed sample case files (including case #10666295) and local CSA policies for audit compliance, and noted several deficiencies that must be addressed. Members agreed to meet April 17, 2025 at 9:00 a.m. to continue the Self-Assessment Audit Engagement; the audit must be completed and submitted to the Office of Children’s Services by April 30, 2025. The committee also reiterated efforts to recruit a Family (Parent) Representative to fill the vacant seat.
The meeting adjourned at 11:12 a.m. The next regular CPMT meeting is scheduled for April 28, 2025 at 10:00 a.m.
