The Alameda County Board of Supervisors on March 24 approved an interim appointment to lead the county’s information services functions.
The board authorized an interim appointment for Ram Guramurthy to serve as interim chief information officer effective March 29 pending completion of the board’s recruitment and appointment process. The agenda text recorded a biweekly interim compensation figure in the item paperwork. The appointment passed by roll call.
Ram Guramurthy addressed the board following the vote, saying he was honored to serve "to lead this award-winning team in the interim capacity" and that he looked forward to getting to work.
The motion directs continuation of recruitment for a permanent CIO and places interim management responsibility with the newly appointed interim officer until the board completes its recruitment and formal appointment process.
Next steps: the board-appointed recruitment process will continue and staff will implement the interim transition plan as the department hands responsibilities to the interim officer.
