Jon Bjork, of 219 Lincoln Ave., provided an update on a proposed community garden during the public-comment portion of the March 31 meeting.
Bjork said he dropped off a flyer with village staff earlier in the day to be shared with board members and that the flyer was created and donated by Lincoln Market. He acknowledged assistance from public works for tilling, Spores to More for donating mushroom compost, the Fox River Grove Memorial Library for posting and distributing flyers, and McHenry County College Green Living for donating seeds. He said he has been in touch with the Cary-Grove Food Pantry and is seeking volunteers through local Scouts of America troops and at Algonquin Road School and the Fox River Grove middle school.
Bjork requested opportunities to advertise the garden locally and asked for information on how residents interested in gardening might secure individual plots. The transcript records these requests but does not show a direct response or a formal direction from the board or staff during the meeting.
The flyer referenced by Bjork was left with staff for distribution to trustees; next steps and availability of plots were not specified in the meeting record.
