The Gurdon School District board unanimously approved renewals of school-based mental-health contracts with Therapeutic Family Services and Experience Counseling Clinic for the 2026–27 school year, continuing services the district used in the prior year.
Presenter explained this action "is the approval of our 26 27 school based mental health contracts" and described the provider roles. Staff noted the contracts mirror what was used last year and said no substantive changes were proposed. One board member (Melanie) stepped out of the meeting for a conflict of interest before the vote was taken.
Staff and board members discussed facility logistics: agencies will use space in the wellness center and classrooms at the high school and elementary school, but staffing and room assignments may require flexibility until the district completes campus fencing and other security work. Presenter said state guidance indicates the district may receive more school-safety funding from DESE next year, which staff hope will allow the district to consolidate services on a single enclosed campus.
The board approved the contracts to keep continuity of services. Staff said individual scheduling and specific room assignments will be worked out between the district and each agency as the new year approaches.
