The board approved a comprehensive personnel section that included reorganizations, re‑employments, resignations and new hires. Superintendent Collitt walked board members through the personnel packet and asked the board to approve the slate as presented.
On facilities staffing, Collitt requested permission to post a full‑time HVAC technician through EPIC, a cooperative hiring arrangement that allows EPIC to employ the worker and bill the district. He explained EPIC expands the pool of candidates and lets the district offer more competitive pay and benefits packages than the county alone would permit. "We are bound by the codes of West Virginia that we have to post things specifically that meet our requirements as a school system," Collitt said, adding that EPIC's arrangement helps recruit specialized technicians but that EPIC employees are not district employees; EPIC will bill the district for services.
Separately, Collitt described an individual case involving a Hampshire High School senior who has completed all graduation requirements except two classes but cannot attend full days because of childcare and transportation limitations. The board voted to grant an individual attendance exemption so the student may complete required courses and participate in graduation.
Board members also approved volunteer approvals and staff postings across multiple categories; discussion included vacancies, retirements and the plan to continue filling open positions in subsequent meetings.
