On March 9 the Uniontown City Council amended and then approved the 2026 Planning Commission and Community Development work plan. Council committee proposed removing a planned review of building heights in the R4 and HCB zones, citing an extensive prior debate and targeted earlier changes; the council approved the amendment by voice vote and passed the amended work plan.
After adopting the amended work plan, the council authorized administration to hire an outside contractor or consultant for Title 15 amendments as needed to comply with state law, with funds not to exceed $25,000. Councilmember Clark moved the authorization; the motion passed by voice vote.
Background and scope: staff described a large work plan that includes battery energy storage systems (currently under a moratorium), co-living regulations required by House Bill 1998, consolidated permit processing tied to House Bill 5290, least-restrictive housing regulations, an airport side-yard setback request from the Enumclaw Airport owner, zoning reviews and solar installation code updates, and the annual six-year transportation improvement plan and park capital plan updates.
Next steps: staff will proceed with the work plan items in priority order and implement Title 15 amendments with the contracted consultant as directed by council.
