DEC planner: Winooski Basin has met 11% of 2036 targets; TBP report-card period runs to 2026

Keith Fritschie, a planner with the Vermont Department of Environmental Conservation, updated the Clean Water Advisory Committee on the Winooski Basin Tactical Basin Plan on July 1.
Fritschie said the TBP follows a five-year cycle and that the 2024 report card and plan identified 50 strategies the basin would implement to meet long-term water-quality targets. He reported that, as of 2023, the basin has achieved about 11% of its 2036 targets.
The basin’s interim report-card period runs through 2026; Fritschie said DEC will provide a brief set of comments to EPA and will return to the committee for additional coordination and feedback as the planning cycle continues. Committee chair Annie Costandi acknowledged the schedule and asked about EPA involvement; Fritschie said EPA feedback is typically short.
The update was informational; no formal committee action was taken during the meeting.
