Effingham County Board approves consent agenda, parking lot resurfacing agreement and routine appointments

The Effingham County Board approved the bulk of its consent agenda, which included minutes, officers' monthly reports, billing approvals, appointments to various fire protection districts and ethics board seats, updates to wind and solar ordinances, and disbursements from economic development funds.
The board approved a $500 contribution from the community economic development fund to Sunrise Rotary for an America's 250th celebration event after committee discussion had reduced the group's $1,000 request. The board also approved an intergovernmental agreement with the City of Effingham to resurface the county north parking lot; the city will manage bidding and procurement and the county will pay its portion based on the county's share of the project. Commissioners said they placed a placeholder of roughly $130,000 in the capital improvement plan as an estimate, and that the work will be asphalt.
Other actions included approval of several township bridge and road petitions, authorization to advertise bids for a new tandem dump truck, appointment confirmations for fire protection districts and ethics board members, acceptance of a resignation from Rick Manford on the Ambulance Oversight Committee, and completion of a county document digitization project funded in part by ARPA.
Board members also received committee reports on the revolving loan fund, extension tenant recruitment, ambulance contract planning and other routine business. The clerk reminded officials that statements of economic interest are due May 1.
