Oneida County forestry staff report stumpage revenue, launch online reservations; committee approves events, bids and a grant application

Forestry staff told the Oneida County Forestry, Land & Recreation Committee on April 14 that the department recorded $51,543.07 in stumpage revenue for March, bringing the year-to-date total to $202,643.43.
Timber-sale manager Rady said there are 12 sales out for bid — seven new and five re-sales — with bids due May 7 and advertised prices reduced by about 15% to reflect current markets. "March stumpage was $51,543.07, bringing the year-to-date total to $202,643.43," Rady reported to the committee.
Nemec said the department is now live with the online service provider Recreogo, enabling recreational users to purchase trail passes and reserve pavilions and campground sites online. Nemec also said the department recently took delivery of a new work truck that replaced a 2016 model used as trade-in and that three applicants have applied for the LTE ranger position, with interviews expected by month-end.
The committee approved a WDNR-led application to White Tails Unlimited for $1,500 in funding to support local work (motion by Almekinder; second Sorgel; unanimous). The panel also approved the annual RASTA Rally special event agreement for the Washburn Trail system (motion by Briggs; second Schultz; unanimous) and authorized a notice for bids to replace the department's oldest ATV (motion by Schultz; second Briggs; unanimous).
Committee members received an invoices-paid report showing March vouchers totaled $3,914.18, including $754.65 for grant-funded or reimbursed expenses, and reviewed the Forestry Department’s March budget/actual report without raising concerns.
In closed session the committee approved the December 9, 2025 closed-session minutes and accepted the Vertical Bridge lease agreement as presented; those items were announced after the committee returned to open session.
The committee listed May 12, 2026 as its next meeting date and identified agenda items including awarding timber sale bids and the 2025 Forestry Department annual report.
