Oneida County health department receives positive preliminary reaccreditation review

Staff member Linda Conlon reported to the Board of Health Committee on April 14 that the department received a preliminary reaccreditation report following a site visit completed ahead of schedule. She described the report as "strong" while noting there are a couple of areas for continued improvement and said the final accreditation decision is expected at the May meeting.
Conlon said the site visit team and Oneida County Health Department staff had a productive discussion during the visit; Chair Dan Hess and Vice Chair William "Casey" Crump participated in the accreditation process on behalf of the board. Conlon emphasized that accreditation focuses on meeting standards, supporting ongoing quality improvement and demonstrates effective and efficient public health operations when achieved.
The board did not take formal action on accreditation at the April meeting; staff said they will present the final accreditation decision at the committee's May meeting.
