Jessica Miranda, Hamilton County Auditor, presented an overview of the Auditor’s office to Madeira residents and council as part of an "Auditour." She said the office employs about eighty‑nine staff and handles county fiscal functions including payroll, real property assessment, administration of rental registration and the Homestead Exemption, dog licensing and official weights and measures.
Miranda demonstrated a recently updated, accessibility‑compliant website and pointed attendees to a refreshed Board of Revision page and a property search tool with tax‑distribution graphics. She said the office relies heavily on fair market value and recent sales when appraising homes and encouraged homeowners to file permits for remodels so online records reflect accurate information.
On the Homestead Exemption, Miranda said current levels no longer provide significant relief to many low‑income seniors and disabled veterans and urged listeners to contact elected officials about potential legislative increases. During Q&A, Vice Mayor Ramzi Takieddine asked about home sales and values; Miranda reiterated the county’s reliance on recent sales and market value.
