Ocean City Development Corporation outlines downtown projects, grants and workforce housing

Representatives of the Ocean City Development Corporation updated commissioners on downtown revitalization efforts, grant programs and property redevelopment.
OCDC outlined three focus areas: cultural and community programming (including free summer events and a boardwalk scavenger hunt), grant programs that support façade, energy-efficiency and roof/fence projects, and property redevelopment including workforce housing and land banking. The OCDC representative said the organization has awarded $4.5 million in grants and leveraged approximately $46.75 million in private investment to date.
The presentation highlighted completed public-art projects (two murals finished in 2025), an adaptive reuse project at 102 Worcester Street that will house seasonal lifeguards and a downtown post office, and a recent downtown substation project that partnered with the town and cost about $4.2 million.
Commissioners thanked the OCDC presenters and noted cooperation on design review, Main Street designation and workforce-housing initiatives.
