Board approves Motorola console replacement for dispatch, adopts amended five‑year construction plan

Sheriff Schultes joined the Emmet County Board meeting on June 24 to brief supervisors on a planned replacement of the county’s dispatch radio console.
The sheriff explained that federal and state requirements and changing radio transmission types require an upgrade. The E911 board previously approved $300,000 toward the console upgrade and the sheriff’s FY25 budget contributed $150,000; Alpha Wireless designed the replacement plan using a Motorola console and proposed a maintenance agreement. Supervisor John Pluth moved to approve the console replacement project, Supervisor Tim Schumacher seconded, and the board approved the project unanimously. The sheriff said the project will span several months.
County Engineer Walter Davis‑Oeth also asked the board to adopt Resolution 25‑24 to amend the county’s FY2026 Five‑Year Construction Plan. The board adopted the resolution by unanimous roll‑call vote and the auditor noted a full copy of the resolution is available in the Auditor’s Office or on the county website.
The board additionally confirmed earlier fuel and propane bid awards for secondary roads (previously awarded to Pro Coop and New Century) and reviewed a DNR hog confinement construction permit for K & T Olson Swine (site #71965). The meeting adjourned at 11:02 a.m.
