Union County commissioners adjust two property appeals, authorize contracts pending legal review

Commissioner Ballard moved to accept the Assessor’s recommendation for appeal 2026-04 — a house value of $1,534,829 and a land value of $254,841 for a total of $1,789,670 — with Commissioner Dailey seconding; that motion also carried. The board then accepted the Assessor’s exempt report as presented.
Back in regular session, the commission briefly recessed mid-morning. Later, Commissioner Ballard moved, seconded by Commissioner Kimmel, to authorize Chairman Kevin Joffer to sign a "General Contractor" contract with L&L Construction and an "Owner Representative" contract with Mollet Industrial Group after State’s Attorney Zenner has reviewed and approved the documents; the motion carried. The minutes record that signature authority was therefore delegated, contingent on legal review.
