The two ordinances — Ordinance #863 (revenue allocation among Marlboro, Marion and Dillon counties) and Ordinance #864 (revenue allocation between Marlboro and Darlington counties) — were approved for first reading by motion from Councilman Charles P. Midgley Jr. and seconded by Councilman Steve Blackmon. Both motions passed unanimously as recorded in the minutes.
Tax Assessor Kep Kepley updated Council on the office's reassessment cycle, stating the office reassesses property values every six years, that the process begins about three years in advance, and that notices to property owners are expected to be mailed in the coming months. He said fieldwork checks for new structures and permit compliance are part of the reassessment process.
County Administrator Wilson A. Clyburn noted the executive committee will review ordinances for boards beginning in April and that some boards need to report to Council. Council took no additional action on the ordinances at this meeting beyond the title-only first readings.
