Bolingbrook board approves $2.3M in payables; OKs airport sign, emergency sewer repair and credit union permit

Bolingbrook’s Mayor and Board of Trustees approved a slate of financial and land‑use actions at their Jan. 28, 2025 regular meeting, including $2,300,433.59 in payables, authorization of a new airport monument sign, an emergency purchase to repair a sewage‑plant blower and a special‑use permit for a financial institution.
Trustee Troy J. Doris moved and Trustee Michael J. Carpanzano seconded approval of two bill listings—Listing A ($1,926,548.21) and Listing B ($373,885.38)—for a combined total of $2,300,433.59. The roll call recorded six yeas, no nays and no abstentions, carrying the motion.
The board adopted Resolution 25R-003 to approve Aurora Sign Co.’s proposal for a new illuminated monument sign at Clow International Airport. The total fabrication, delivery and installation cost is $44,620, plus a $5,000 contingency; the Village will cover $34,620 and the Illinois Aviation Museum will contribute $15,000. Trustee Jose Quintero moved for approval; Trustee Michael T. Lawler seconded. The roll call vote was six yeas, no nays.
The board also adopted Resolution 25R-004 authorizing an emergency purchase to repair Blower #5 at Sewage Treatment Plant #2 (1000 W. Boughton Road). According to the resolution, the shaft fractured, causing a complete operational failure that could produce excessive odors, prevent compliant biosolids production and risk fines from the Environmental Protection Agency if not repaired. The cost to disassemble and replace bearings, seals, gaskets and the shaft is $37,112. Trustee Jean M. Kelly moved for adoption; Trustee Troy J. Doris seconded. Roll call: six yeas, no nays.
On land use, the board passed Ordinance 25-001, a special‑use permit for a financial institution at 1333 Lily Cache Lane (Polish & Slavic Federal Credit Union) in the Weber Crossing Retail Center. Trustee Troy J. Doris moved the ordinance; Trustee Jean M. Kelly seconded. The Plan Commission had previously reviewed and approved the request. Roll call recorded six yeas and no nays.
The meeting also included a Clerk‑reported summary of recent tax receipts: Oct. 2024 State Income Tax of $647,401.99 (a 4.5% decrease from a year earlier), Sept. 2024 Sales Tax of $3,652,053.09 (a 7.4% increase), and Oct. 2024 Motor Fuel Tax of $283,791.05 (an 8.7% increase).
The board completed routine business, and Trustee Michael T. Lawler moved, with Trustee Jose Quintero seconding, to adjourn. The meeting ended at 7:51 p.m.
