Civic Beautification Committee reviews Deer Path streetscape, Gorton lot and Arbor Day plantings

Herman Weber, outgoing chair of Lake Forest’s Civic Beautification Committee, told the council the committee has completed and continued several landscaping and streetscape projects aimed at improving gateways and public spaces.
Weber highlighted the Deer Path and Route 41 corridor plantings and the relandscaping outside City Hall to preserve green space and add benches and a water fountain. He said the committee also prepared plantings around the Wesley Road pump station and will start beautification work at the Gorton Community Center upper parking lot this spring.
Weber invited residents to Arbor Day tree planting with Lake Forest College and said seedlings (red maple and dogwood) are available at multiple park locations. He thanked committee members, local garden clubs and city staff for their work during his six‑year term as chair.
