Mayor Tack told the council on Jan. 20 that Lake Forest will roll out a new Central Business District parking program on May 1 designed to simplify rules, improve turnover and support local businesses.
The program will standardize parking zones across the CBD, with most curb spaces limited to 90 minutes, designated quick‑stop and high‑demand areas, and several lots allowing up to three hours of free parking. Existing hang‑tag commuter/employee permits will be replaced with a digital permit system. The mayor said the police department will use license‑plate readers to track time limits and that enforcement will resume in tandem with the new zones.
An interactive parking map and more program information will be available at cityoflakeforest.com/cbdparking, the mayor said. He urged residents and business owners to review the new zones before May 1.
