Mary Therese Anstey, who prepared the nomination, described documentary and physical evidence supporting the request, noting the availability of original blueprints and the home’s strong Usonian and mid-century modern characteristics. “It is so physically intact,” Anstey said, adding that the nomination benefits from both archival materials and on-site features.
Pam Chadbourne, a nearby resident who spoke during public comment, said the house “connects me with the past” and urged the commission to recognize the property’s broader historic context. Owner Sally Parsons was present for the hearing.
A motion to approve staff’s recommendation was moved and seconded during the hearing and the clerk announced the tally as seven in favor and the motion carried unanimously. With the commission’s recommendation, the designation request will proceed to the Littleton City Council for final consideration.
