TAC approves minutes, reviews future agenda topics and grant opportunities

Davis also invited suggestions for future TAC agendas, prompting discussion of potential presentations on the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) and the Public Right‑of‑Way Accessibility Guidelines (PROWAG), CCRPC planning studies, and a grants management roundtable that could include FHWA and VTrans staff.
Members suggested topics including an update on VAPDA/CCRPC priorities for the next legislative session, a possible presentation by Chittenden Solid Waste District on landfill siting, and a traffic‑calming update drawing on examples from Burlington, Winooski and Local Motion. Staff noted the Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) update is underway with VTrans and FHWA and may require TAC action in the coming weeks because federal funds must be obligated annually.
Committee members also highlighted near‑term funding and event opportunities: the CATMA Transportation Summit on Oct. 15 (registration open), Building Communities Grants (up to $25,000; application deadline Sept. 10), VTrans Mobility and Transportation Innovation grants (deadline Sept. 16 at 4:30 p.m.), FHWA PROTECT program resources, Northern Border Regional Commission Catalyst Program pre‑application (pre‑app due Sept. 6), and EPA Recreation Economy for Rural Communities program (applications due Oct. 16). Staff committed to collecting member questions in advance and to arranging appropriate agency participation for future discussions.
The committee set its next meeting for Oct. 1 as an in‑person/hybrid session. The meeting adjourned at 10:06 a.m.
