CCRPC staff flags housing-data gaps, announces draft housing targets and grant deadlines

Melanie Needle, CCRPC GIS data and IT manager, told the PAC Feb. 12 that the state is now tracking new housing units under Act 181 but that CCRPC’s E911-based housing database does not capture affordable units or demolitions. "Affordable units and demolitions are not included," Needle said.
Darren Schibler said draft housing targets will be released in early March; a working group will meet to review methodology and final targets. Several PAC members volunteered to fill vacancies on the subcommittee. Schibler also reminded municipalities that Municipal Planning Grants are due at the end of March and encouraged members to contact CCRPC staff if they need assistance preparing applications.
CCRPC staff will post the draft targets when available and convene the working group to evaluate methodology and finalize targets. Municipalities were encouraged to check the CCRPC housing dashboard and reach out to staff about grant applications.
