Alexia Sober explained that Main Street is a volunteer‑driven, non‑membership nonprofit program that obtains accreditation and access to state and national resources only when a local fiscal partnership with a municipality or county exists.
"It's a national program... it provides access to a larger pool of resources," Sober said while outlining how an executive director would help the program leverage grants, technical assistance and accreditation resources. Commissioners discussed the candidate search process and potential selection panel composition, and Commissioner Mitchell moved to approve the restricted funding; the motion passed unanimously.
Staff noted the funding is restricted to the position’s salary and that the Main Street program will work with regional partners to identify director candidates and a selection panel including county representation.
