The Board adopted the second reading of Bill No. 149 (Ordinance 26‑337), which amends Story County Code chapter 5.16 governing brothel licensing. The ordinance also raises the loan reporting requirement to the sheriff’s office from $25,000 to $200,000 and changes the method by which fees are established from resolution to ordinance.
Commissioner Mitchell moved to adopt the second reading; the motion was seconded and passed unanimously with no public comment. The change is part of a broader county effort to reduce certain business fees, as staff noted the amendment is specific to brothel licensing but fits into a larger fee reduction workplan.
County staff confirmed the ordinance title was read into the record as a precaution before the vote.
