CJCC considers merging Diversion and OWI Court subcommittees to reduce meetings

At the Feb. 12 meeting of the Criminal Justice Coordinating Committee, a request was made during the OWI Subcommittee meeting to combine the Diversion and OWI Court subcommittees on the grounds that many of the same people attend both groups.
Steven Schreier, chairperson of the CJCC, indicated he was willing to combine the groups provided the committee develops a clear structure for the merged subcommittee and informs the Clerk’s office so agendas and minutes are posted properly. The minutes record that the consolidation would reduce meetings but that responsibility for posting agendas and minutes needs to be decided.
The request was recorded for future consideration; the minutes do not show a formal motion or vote to merge the subcommittees at this session.
