The Marquette County board approved two local funding items and received updates on a state-funded ESTP rural paving project.
Presenter (Speaker 4) asked the board to approve a $35,000 DMA allocation for bridge work and a $115,000 local force agreement for State Highway 82 through Oxford. A motion to approve those allocations was made and seconded; Chair (Speaker 2) called a voice vote and declared the motion carried.
On a separate project, the presenter reported that the county’s ESTP rural project went through state letting and that the low bid was $2,320,000; two other bidders submitted higher bids. The presenter explained the project uses an 80/20 funding split so the county will be responsible for 20 percent of the award rather than the full lump sum.
The presenter also updated local bridge timelines, noting Montello’s May 12 meeting with the Department of Transportation about a previously awarded 14th Road bridge project and reporting that Union Pacific’s requests on right-of-way spanning have caused delays on some local bridge efforts.
The board’s vote authorized the local funding allocations and left the standard state and regional approvals in place for projects requiring additional sign-offs.
