Oshkosh Common Council completes organizational housekeeping: oaths, appointments and rules

At the April 21 organizational meeting the Common Council swore in newly elected members, administered seating and conducted routine governance business.
New members took the oath of office and the council completed seating assignments. Council members nominated and elected a deputy mayor (Carl Bulow), and the council voted to accept council rules as amended to align regular-meeting language to the municipal code. Several routine items were approved by roll call including appointments to boards, and three ordinances related to annexation and parking restrictions were carried by unanimous vote.
The council also scheduled future orientation sessions (including May 12) and set special meetings for immediate follow-up items. A handful of resolutions were withdrawn at the request of staff or applicants to be returned later with updated materials.
Outcome: organizational items completed; council directed staff to follow up on committee assignments and to return with requested materials on outstanding agenda items.
