Jackson County board approves utility permit, schedules FY27 budget hearing and OKs $675,000 transfer

The board unanimously approved an underground utility permit for Maquoketa Valley Electric Cooperative to install a new underground fiber line on 67th Street in Monmouth Township, Section 17. County engineer Jaden Shekel presented the permit and said the department recommended approval.
The board approved the minutes of the March 24, 2026 meeting and work session and authorized their publication in the official newspapers.
The board voted to set a public hearing for the fiscal year 2027 budget on April 21, 2026 at 9:00 a.m.
The board also approved Resolution 1174‑03‑31‑2026, described in the meeting as the biannual interfund operating transfer from the rural basic 11,000 fund to the secondary roads 20,000 fund in the amount of $675,000, effective March 31, 2026. Lisa from the auditor's office said the transfer is one installment of the budgeted biannual transfer.
