Masconomet committee approves contract for Heather Galante as superintendent

The Masconomet Regional School District School Committee voted to approve a contract for Heather Galante as superintendent at its March 25 meeting, the committee chair said.

The approval followed a motion to "approve the superintendent contract with Heather Galante as presented," which a committee member moved and the chair seconded. During the roll call vote, one member, Kendra, recorded a dissenting vote; the others voted in favor.

Committee members discussed the size of salary increases tied to the contract, which the chair described as "within very, very small dollars from very round numbers" and approximately 2.4–2.6 percent (generally reported as about 2.5 percent). The chair said Galante has already signed the contract and that the chair will countersign the document, provide a signed copy to Galante and give a copy to Jackie. The chair and another committee member said they are working with Galante on next steps for engagement with central office staff and on transition planning, including discussions about replacing the outgoing superintendent, Jeff.

The motion to approve the contract was moved by a committee member and seconded by the chair. In the roll call recorded during the meeting, the following votes were reported: Bill — yes; Joe — yes; Kendra — no; Chris — yes; Trevor — yes; Alyssa — yes; Lisa — yes; Adrian — yes; the chair — yes. The chair said the committee will finalize signatures and logistics and will continue planning for leadership transition with Galante.

The committee did not record any amendments to the contract during the meeting. The chair said the signed contract will be circulated to relevant staff and town administrators as part of transition tasks.
