The Columbia Heights Public Schools board on March 24 approved awarding the 2026 high school classroom renovation to the low responsible bidder identified in the board packet. Director Hennekins said conversations with the apparent low bidder and attendance at the preconstruction meeting gave confidence to recommend the award; the project is funded through the district''s long‑term facility maintenance dollars.
Director Hennekins said work is scheduled to begin in June, with abatement and demolition first, flooring and cabinet installation in July and new cabinets arriving around August so classrooms will be ready when teachers return.
The board discussed bid differences and the team''s review of the low responsible bidder before approving the award by voice vote.
