Griggs County commissioners on March 23 approved a final haul-road agreement and agreed to include a 35 mph truck speed provision to allow townships to piggyback on the county terms.
Commissioners and staff discussed language that had removed a 35 mph truck speed limit; county representatives said they would restore a specific 35 mph truck provision so townships that join the county agreement can rely on consistent truck-speed expectations. One presenter noted quotes for 35-mph truck signs had been obtained and the signs will be placed on county roads.
The chair called for a motion; the motion to accept the haul-road agreement was made and seconded and the board approved it by voice vote. Commissioners also discussed the schedule for the Decker Bridge project, with staff saying a preconstruction conference had been held and that removal of the old bridge is planned in the near-term.
The board asked staff to ensure the agreement’s language accommodates township piggybacking and to coordinate sign placement and engineering steps where necessary.
