Council approves 23‑lot Northgate preliminary plat, emphasizes drainage oversight

The Washington City Council approved a request to create 23 single‑family lots within the interior of the Northgate Subdivision off Ashberne Drive.
Planning & Development Director Mike Dail presented the application and said the proposal is consistent with the Comprehensive/CAMA Future Land Use Map and the Planning Board recommended approval. Councilmember Bobby E. Roberson noted the city has received numerous drainage complaints in the area and asked that drainage be addressed if the plat is approved. Developer Jason Briley told the council the subdivision ditches are maintained by the city twice per year and said he was not aware of current drainage problems.
By motion of Councilmember Mike Renn, seconded by Mayor Pro tem Richard Brooks, Council accepted the Planning Board recommendation and approved the 23‑lot preliminary subdivision plat for parcel #5677‑18‑8832.
