Wood County Board Chair Lance Plimel said such enhancements help draw visitors and potential businesses to the downtown area and pointed to several major events the city already hosts, including the Wisconsin State Water Ski Show Tournament and national BMX championships. He said ongoing downtown cleanup and building removals are making space for parking and park areas that could encourage further development.
Plimel framed the market and beautification work as part of local economic development and said the county supports efforts to make downtown more vibrant for both residents and visitors.
