Brimberry addressed trustees and community members after the vote, thanking the board and his family. He said he was "honored to become the tenth superintendent in Huntington," described the district as having "great schools, outstanding teachers" and pledged continuity while pursuing high expectations and a student‑centered culture.
Board members emphasized the scope of the role in explaining compensation and the need for a qualified leader: the board noted HCCS oversees more than 800 employees, educates over 4,700 students and manages an annual budget in the tens of millions. Trustees also said the district relied on input from its chief financial officer and peer comparisons to build a "fair, affordable, and sustainable" contract.
The board did not publish the contract's detailed effective dates in the meeting record; trustees said the contract had been available for public viewing the prior Friday. The district did not announce additional implementation steps or a formal start date in the meeting.
