Board adopts Henderson County hazard mitigation plan so county can pursue FEMA mitigation funds

Steve Deaton explained the plan is a continuation of work started in 2012 and that adoption by local entities — including the county, cities and school systems — is required for FEMA to authorize mitigation funding after disasters. "By having an adopted hazard mitigation plan, that lets us go forward and find holes that we developed… and be able to leverage some money that may or may not become available post disaster to be able to build projects," Deaton said.
The board approved a voice‑vote resolution to adopt the plan. No formal roll‑call was recorded in the transcript; the board responded "aye" and the motion carried.
