Council continues auto body shop request after residents cite prior violations

Jack Finger, a registered public speaker, told the council that neighbors who spoke at the zoning commission opposed the application because the business had committed violations under its prior zoning status and was seeking forgiveness from the commission. "I would just urge you to just simply say no to this outright," Finger said, asking the council not to approve the request without further review.
The mayor called for a motion and a second to continue the item; the council voted to continue the matter to the Jan. 15, 2026 meeting. The continuance means staff and opponents will have more time to submit materials and the council may receive additional public comment at the next hearing.
No formal rezoning decision was made at this meeting; the council left the item on the agenda for the Jan. 15 session.
