The Fayette County Board of Education moved through routine business March 26 with a string of unanimous votes and a notable naming decision.
Early in the meeting Board Vice Chair Amy Green moved to adopt the proposed agenda; the motion was seconded and the board approved the agenda by a 5–0 vote. The board later approved the minutes of the March 9 planning meeting and the March 11 special meeting, and voted to approve consent items (with one consent item pulled for separate action) by the same 5–0 margin.
Chair Tyler Murphy asked the board to pull consent item J‑8 for separate consideration because a special guest — Helen Case Wade — was in the audience. On the naming motion the board accepted a committee recommendation to name the new Greendale Road elementary the "Helen Case Wade Elementary." The motion to approve the name was moved by Board Member Amy Green, seconded by Board Member Monica Mundy, and carried by a unanimous vote.
After a scheduled closed session the board reconvened and approved recommended incident response services and authorized the chief legal officer to participate in mediation as discussed in closed session; both motions passed 5–0. The board then adjourned the meeting.
What happens next: The finance reports for February and March will be reviewed at the April 27 regular meeting, and any implementation steps related to closed‑session matters will be coordinated by district legal and administrative staff as appropriate.
