Summary
At the April 23 meeting the board approved the FY27 pay-for-performance plan, administrative performance pay for certified and classified administrators and several assistant-principal hires. Payroll and expense vouchers were approved separately with President Martinez abstaining on that vote.
The Glendale Elementary School District Governing Board on April 23 approved a series of personnel and compensation items, including the district’s FY27 pay-for-performance plan, administrative performance-pay recommendations and the hiring of three assistant principals.
Dr. Jerry Peterson presented the FY27 pay-for-performance plan the board approved. Peterson said the plan is based on statutory requirements for teachers and principals and explained the weighting: 50% teacher evaluation, 25% school data and 25% professional responsibilities. He also noted the district expects a 5% increase in performance-pay funding for the next year as announced in late March.
The board also approved the superintendent’s recommendation for administrative performance pay for certified and classified administrators for 2026–27, with amounts not to exceed those specified in administrator contracts.
On hiring, the board approved employment of Christine Eustace as assistant principal at Bicentennial South, Bannet Payan as assistant principal at Don Menzendick School, and Mariah Dzaskowski as assistant principal at Glenn F. Burton School; each motion passed unanimously.
Separately, the board approved payroll and expense vouchers (item 4c). During that vote President Martinez stated she would abstain; other board members voted aye.
President Martinez and other board members used the meeting to thank staff and committee members for their work on compensation and personnel matters before adjourning the meeting.
The board’s next regular meeting is scheduled for May 14; separate celebrations and events (including a May 7 Kiwanis/poetry celebration and a retiree reception prior to the May 14 meeting) were noted during the meeting.
