Board seeks master calendar to stop clashes between graduations, awards and ROTC events

Board members told colleagues they are routinely surprised by last‑minute changes to awards nights, ROTC ceremonies and graduations that leave trustees and families unable to attend multiple events.
Mr. Johnson said the board should set the major end‑of‑year dates — five high‑school graduations, ROTC awards, and nights of excellence — by the first day of school in August so other events can be scheduled around them. “We should have those made in stone by the first day of school in August,” he said.
Members discussed ParentSquare as the primary events calendar and asked principals to post events there. The high‑school lead principal, Ed LaRose, was asked to organize a summer meeting of high‑school principals to identify mutually exclusive end‑of‑year dates and place them on a master calendar the board can access.
