Board proclaims ADA anniversary, approves easement, claims and closed session

The Calhoun County Board of Commissioners on July 16 read and adopted a proclamation reaffirming the county’s commitment to the Americans with Disabilities Act on its 30th anniversary.
Comr. Gary Tompkins read the resolution recognizing the ADA’s 1990 enactment, emphasizing the county’s commitment to removing barriers and increasing inclusion. The resolution was adopted unanimously (Res.110-2020). Administrator Kelli Scott also read a pre-submitted comment from Joel Cooper of the Disability Network of Southwest Michigan thanking the board for recognizing the anniversary.
The board approved a reciprocal easement allowing parking access at 209 East Michigan Avenue; Corporation Counsel Jim Dyer said the agreement grants parking access and does not transfer property ownership (Res.113-2020). The board approved Claims Payable covering June 12–July 9, 2020 in the amount of $7,141,497.17 (Res.116-2020).
Finally, the board moved into a closed session at 8:17 p.m. to review the Administrator/Controller performance evaluation (Res.117-2020), returned to open session at 8:33 p.m., and the Chair adjourned the meeting.
