Calhoun County board accepts 2019 audit completed remotely and filed on time

The Calhoun County Board of Commissioners voted unanimously on Aug. 6 to accept the county’s 2019 audit after a brief presentation by Nathan Balderman of Rehmann.
Balderman told commissioners the audit was completed remotely this year and was submitted to the state by the June 30, 2020 deadline, a timeline some nearby counties did not meet. Commissioner Gary Tompkins moved to accept the audit and the board approved the motion on a 7-0 roll call vote (Res. 121-2020).
County staff did not request an extension to file and emphasized that the remote process did not delay completion. The acceptance is procedural and completes the county’s financial reporting responsibilities for the 2019 fiscal year.
