During the April 6 meeting the Hertford County Board of Commissioners left its regular session to convene as the Southern and Northern Rural Water Districts and approved issuing a Request for Qualifications under NCGS 143-674.31 to retain private engineering firms.
Northern/Southern Water District Director Stanley Lassiter presented the proposal and the board approved proceeding with the RFQ on a motion by Commissioner Ronald J. Gatling, seconded by Commissioner John D. Horton. The board then adjourned the rural water district session and reconvened regular session.
The RFQ is intended to identify qualified private engineering firms to provide professional services for the county's rural water systems; the county will follow the statutory procurement requirements cited in the motion. The board did not record vendor names or selection criteria in the minutes; those details will appear when the RFQ is released and firms respond.
