Hopkinsville — The Hopkinsville City Council on April 21 unanimously adopted a resolution designating West 7th Street Bridge as the "Steve Tribble West Side Bridge," honoring Steve Tribble's years of public service.
Judge Atkins read the resolution to the council and assembled guests, saying, "It is a resolution of the Hopkinsville City Council to honor Steve Tribble for his years of dedicated public service by designating West 7th Street Bridge as the Steve Tribble West Side Bridge." The resolution text, read aloud, notes that Tribble served as Christian County judge executive from 1994 to 2023 and credits him with supporting economic development and infrastructure improvements.
Tribble, who came forward after the vote, thanked elected officials and residents and reflected on growing up on Hopkinsville's Westside. "I'm proud to be from Westside," he said, recalling walks across the bridge and neighborhood memories. He told the council the honor meant a great deal to him.
Mayor Knight and other council members said a public dedication ceremony with signage will follow; Judge Tribble requested the event be held in the evening so his daughter Allison can attend. The council approved the resolution by voice vote; the mayor indicated a larger, outdoor dedication and sign installation will be scheduled as a public event.
The action is ceremonial and symbolic; the resolution text specifies the bridge name be a lasting recognition of Tribble's public service.
